The Philadelphia Inquirer reports, “When Hasan Malik was only 3, his mother watched in amazement as he made a tiny hole in the backyard and plopped a sunflower seed into it. As his Helianthus annuus grew, so did his interest in gardening. Now 17, he’s a leader among the city’s volunteer tree-planters.”
